National Maritime Skills Network

The National Maritime Skills Network is dedicated to building a world-class maritime workforce through collaboration, innovation, and excellence in training. Recognising the vital role of the maritime industry for Australia's economy and national security, the Network brings together maritime training providers from across the country to foster a dynamic community of practice.

Our mission is to ensure that maritime training meets the evolving needs of the industry, supporting sectors such as maritime transport, offshore wind farms, oil and gas installations, tourism, fishing, and passenger movement. By uniting training providers, we aim to create a better geographical spread of training options and improve access for learners.

The Network collaborates closely with stakeholders to develop and deliver high-quality training programs that address current and future maritime workforce demands. Our initiatives include professional development for trainers and assessors, access to the latest industry information and resources, and a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment.

Together, we are building a resilient and skilled maritime workforce that will support Australia's economic growth and sustainability for years to come.

Foundation Membership of the Network comprises the three main TAFE Institutes and a dual sector provider who deliver the Maritime Training Package qualifications required by the Strategic Fleet workforce:

Industry Skills Australia (ISA) is the fifth foundation member. ISA will support and coordinate the work of the Network.
